The Right Information Before the Hire Is Made

A hiring decision can affect workplace safety, customer trust, reputation and liability. Without the right level of screening, relevant information may surface only after someone is already on the job.

Canadian Criminal Record Checks give your team verified Canadian police information to assess candidates consistently and make decisions that reflect the responsibilities of the role.

Why Organizations Use Criminal Record Checks

Support Duty of Care

Add a consistent screening step for roles involving employees, customers, assets or the public.

Match Screening to the Role

Choose Basic or Enhanced based on the responsibilities of the position, your risk profile and any client or industry requirements.

Make Consistent Hiring Decisions

Give your hiring teams verified information to assess candidates against established policies.

Identify Relevant History Early

Review information that may require consideration before employment, site access or other responsibilities begin.

Keep Hiring Moving

Use a secure digital process designed to reduce candidate delays and administrative follow-up.

Choose the Right Check for the Role

Every hiring decision carries a different level of risk.

Arrowhead offers two Canadian Criminal Record Check options, allowing you to choose the level of screening that best aligns with your hiring requirements.

Basic Criminal Record Check

Ideal for routine hiring where confirmation of Canadian criminal convictions is required.

  • Active criminal files in the RCMP National Repository of Criminal Records
  • Canadian criminal convictions based on the candidate's name and date of birth
  • Convictions that have not been pardoned, discharged or sealed by record suspension

Enhanced Criminal Record Check

Recommended best practice

Includes the Basic check plus a query of investigative and identification information within CPIC. Where relevant and releasable, it may identify:

  • Discharged findings of guilt
  • Additional convictions not yet populated in the RCMP National Repository
  • Summary convictions within the past five years
  • Outstanding warrants
  • Active criminal charges before the courts
  • Restrictive bail or release conditions
  • Peace bonds
  • Prohibition and probation orders
